In healthcare education, the LMS is the central hub for didactic content, but critical training occurs in simulated environments and through clinical documentation. AI integration targets three functional surfaces: 1) the assignment/submission API for grading clinical notes, SOAP notes, and patient care plans; 2) the LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) framework for embedding HIPAA-compliant patient simulation chatbots directly into course modules; and 3) the data export/analytics layer for aggregating de-identified student performance data to power adaptive tutoring agents for subjects like anatomy or pharmacology. The goal is not to replace high-fidelity simulation labs, but to provide scalable, deliberate practice and consistent feedback on foundational skills.
