In healthcare, AI doesn't replace RPA; it makes it context-aware. Traditional RPA bots in platforms like UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or Blue Prism excel at structured, rule-based tasks—clicking, copying, and pasting data between systems like Epic, athenahealth, payer portals, and legacy claims systems. AI integration injects judgment into these workflows, enabling bots to handle the unstructured data and exceptions that dominate healthcare operations. Key integration surfaces include: Document Understanding modules (UiPath DU, AA IQ Bot) for processing clinical notes and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) forms; Action Center or AARI for human-in-the-loop validation of AI-extracted data; and the Orchestrator or Control Room API layer, where AI services can be called to triage work items, prioritize queues, or validate outputs before a bot proceeds.
