A Service Level Objective (SLO) is a target level of reliability or performance for a data service, such as data freshness, completeness, or accuracy, against which an error budget is measured. It is a key component of data reliability engineering, translating business needs into measurable, internal targets for data platform teams. SLOs are derived from higher-level Service Level Indicators (SLIs) that measure specific aspects of service health, like pipeline success rate or data arrival latency.
